It's easy to think of yourself as the person you have been. Yet it is far more powerful to see yourself as the person you can become.
The mistakes and disappointments of the past may seem to be a major presence in your life. At this very moment, however, you can choose to leave them completely behind.
From this point on, your life is up to you. In each and every moment that is to come, you are free to choose your thoughts, your feelings, your actions and your attitude.
Consider the possibilities. Think about what could happen if the limitations you thought were there, were not really there at all.
Reach deep within yourself and connect your thoughts to the things that truly matter. Then imagine expressing those treasured values with the way you live each moment.
Beginning now, you can live with the richness and profound purpose that you know is right for you. From this point on, your life is yours to choose.

Hi Phil,
That was EXACTLY what I needed to read!
My old alcoholic thinking and attitudes decided to pay me a visit today. Yuck – how I do NOT like their company! But, I've just closed the door on them because of your post. Thanks for that.
Have a good day,
Carol

I'm doing really well in my own battle right now. I hesitate to say it, but I feel like I've turned a corner, because I'm finding that I don't even really have the urge to go to the bar. I'll have a passing thought every now and then, but in terms of an actual "urge" or "temptation," it's just not there. Monday will be 3 weeks since my last "binge." Normally, when I'm 19 or 20 days into sobriety, I am dying to go to the bar. This time, it's not even really on my radar.

It's good to know that you are doing well. Thanks for letting us know. I found I felt so much better and healthier, too, when the urge to drink left me.
Keep on doing what you're doing one day at a time.
Take care,
Carol

Johnny Cash has a song called 'The Beast". One of the lines says, "sometimes it tries to to kid me that it's just a teddy bear". I'm glad that you don't have an urge to drink right now, and that things are going well. There is something that is called 'the pink cloud', and it happens early on when we are feeling relieved and before we experience the next life crisis. One day at a time, and live in the moment, each moment is a new and unique moment that is given to us. Enjoy the good times. And the difficult times are doable too, when we are sober.
Congratulations on another day sober,
amanda
