The first step is making the first contact - - and admitting we are powerless - -
we are out of control and slowing committing suicide. Hard words, yes, but
words that are true.

We get to the point where we cannot function, where we are out of control.
We are destroying ourselves and everything in our path, our marriage, our
friendships, the list can be endless.

Then a friend passes our way and plants a seed of recovery – with a group of
people who have walked in your shoes. Maybe not so detailed and historically
like your walk in destruction – but they have walked with the same purpose
behind them – to get well, get recovered and grow closer to God.

It takes just a call, one simple contact – do not wait.

For me, the first step was in the dawning, overwhelming, and stark awareness of my fallen state, the i am that I was, and fully accepting it, finding myself alive once more, in the grace of God. And forever free of the source of power for that dead person. When I stepped out of the boat, it sank.
You folks have a good sunday, take care of yourselves.

We learned that we had to fully concede to our innermost selves that we were alcoholics. This is the first step in recovery. The delusion that we are like other people, or presently may be, has to be smashed.

More about alcoholism. Chapter 3, pg. 30.

I agree with both of ya's!
