You are responsible for your own happiness. No one can diminish your self-esteem unless you give them permission to do so.
When something is troubling you, tell people you trust instead of trying to cover it up. You'll be surprised to learn that they've been through something similiar.
Don't pass up an opportunity to tell people you care about them. You may never get another chance.
Reserve judgement until you know all the facts. Even then, keep your mouth shut if no useful purpose is served by adding your two cent's worth.
Be grateful for your good health and the health of those you love. Be aware that without good health, wealth and success mean little.
If you enjoy your work and your life, you are rich. If you aren't happy with either, how can money help?
If you're having a rotten day, don't take it out on others. Simply say, "This is a rotten day. Tomorrow is sure to be better." This attitude can save alot of relationships.
Don't be afraid to try something you think you can't do.
There's no such thing as the perfect man or woman. Look for the best overall package of ambition, kindness, consideration, self-esteem and intelligence. Otherwise, you'll spend your life alone.
Spend time with your children.
You can respect and learn from people even if you don't like them. You can learn something from everyone--because every person in the world knows SOMETHING that you don't.

There are so many wonderful goals and aspects of life to strive towards. I just recently learned that I actually have time to do all that. I had this awful expectation to be perfect and strive for this bar so far above my head that I could not grasp it. And I had that expectation towards others too. Then when I couldn't reach it I would be dissapointed and angry with myself and others. And I still remind myself daily that its okay to be where I am at as long as I can fall asleep at peacefully at night. There are definately times when I know my behavior needs a tune up. These are awesome reminders of good goals to strive for.
Overall, I really enjoy all of what you wrote and I am relieved that I have a lifetime to get where I am going. Thanks for the post.

I granted myself the gift of sobriety and found my spirit.
Thanks for another super post. I always love reading your posts.
I got so much out of it and it made me think of a meeting that I recently went to. Somebody said that life would be so very much better if everyone worked the twelve steps in day to day life and not just people on a twelve step program. There is so much wisdom in our program and I'm so glad to have it in my life. My life is richer and beyond anything that I could have hoped for one year ago.
Have a great weekend,
Carol
