I went to my meeting tonight and it was a wonderful one about overcoming fears, which really carries over into so many parts of life. After the meeting, we were all talking and a guy brought up sponsorship in regards to me. Before I knew it, he had a lady at my side, suggesting that I call her anytime and if I wanted, she'd be my sponsor. I told her I worried about picking one and not clicking with her...she told me that I can switch anytime and she won't think a thing of it.
I'm so glad to have her number and she even said that there are a lot of women there who have eating disorders like me. She wants me to get to know everyone better, so that we can all talk about that as well as the alcohol.
I am so happy for you... oh, and one other thing... you have to CALL a sponsor!!!!! Just don't know if anyone told you that or not... LOL I had sponsors who didn't even know they were my sponsor... because I never called.... :o) LOL
That's the way they used to do it back in the day, you know.
I am so truly pleased for you that things seem to be working out so well.
I see my sponsor once, usually twice, each week. It's great to know that she is there at the end of the 'phone for me. I had to learn that I had to call her and at first it wasn't that easy for me. But now, it's like calling an old friend. And, we do chat about so much and not just AA things.
Take care,
Carol

A guy walked into a meeting in Little Rock, sat down. An old timer walked up to him after the meeting, asked, "You willing to do anything to git sober?" "Yes Sir!" "Good. I'm your sponsor!"
