Overworked and Underpaid!

Can anyone relate?

I have the opportunity at work to get overtime. I view this as a good thing. For some reason when the end of the eight hour day rolls around I find myself volunteering to do more. Justin the over-achiever......

The thing is I don't know the meaning of moderation. I figure if I bust my butt at work and keep doing a great job it will pay off for me somewhere down the road.

I don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing. I don't have much of a life outside of meetings and work. Sooner or later this is going to change but for now I like to stay busy.

Man am I confused.

Any insight on this topic would be greatly appreciated.

Have a good sober weekend everyone!

don't know what is good or bad for you, Justin.

Just for MYSELF.....,,,

I have worked a few jobs in sobriety in such a way, and yes, it provided a great deal of 'esteem' for me... for a time. Problem for me was that I started to slack on AA every time and that was a NO-NO.

If you are able to keep your priorities in line, then I applaud you. It is ALWAYS between you and your HP. I just have a problem with the priorities thing. It kinda 'creeps' up on me.

This last job was what some would have considered a 'dream job'... LOL After a time, I KNEW I wasn't doing enough for my recovery. I was working 55+ hours a week, working an hour away... do the math, and then I have a workaholic husband who is never here to do anything, and a big old house that needs continual attention... it's always SOMETHING with this house. So for me, I had waaaayyyy too many responsibilities piled up on myself and something had to give. God did for me what I couldn't do for myself. I needed to get back to going to more meetings again. I am glad I am able to go to them often now.

At times, I just wish I still lived in that old apartment, newly sober, a world of wonder out there waiting for me... just me and my cat.

But I have new and different blessings now. And with them, come great responsibility. I have more 'roles' than i used to. Enjoy the simplicity while you can, my friend. Don't forget to have fun!

Hi Justin,

This reminds me of many times when I would sit and talk with a Spiritual Advisor, otherwise known as my Therapist, she would listen to something similar to what you where talking about, and I would just do the Yada, Yada, Yada, and then ask her "What do you think?"

Her answer was alway the same, "Toni, I believe the answer to that, is inside of you."

I was also thinking of that good old word "Balance"  don't really know exactly what that means at times, but do know for sure, when things are getting "out of Balance".

Pretty sure this Response did not help, one little bit.

Here's to Better days,

Hugs, Toni

P.S. Justin, wanted to come back and add, a favorite expression,  "If you want something done, ask a busy person".
