Well this sayings, are alive and well in my Recovery today, qualifying for a couple. Need to address and change them.
Just the last two, had to stay in, with some eye irritation that affected my vision, so, don't drive, came up for me. And when we stay inside, and are not feeling well, that little poor me BS sure starts knocking on the door, eh. Felt sick all day yesterday, and lonly, do not get into that often, but I did beat it back from the door, with the use of that TELEPHONE and emails.
Staying AWARE of this stuff is so critcal, onward and upward today, going to an Appt. early this morning getting meds for a few things, then getting butt to a meeting, and if I have to ask for a ride, then yep, I am going to do that, my Doctor is about 4 little blocks away, and when I come home, I will make the detrimination of whether to call someone, or to go on my own, we have to at ALL times, pay attention to the H.A.L.T. warning. I do anyway. So simple, and really so simple to resolve, it is not about thinking about it, it is about DOING it.
I just came across this and it made me think of what you have just posted. Thank you for reminding me about HALT. It is so easy to forget and, as you say, it is critical.
"remember HALTE...hungry, angry, lonely, tired, exercise. Our first defences against alcohol are to eat right and exercise. Then it becomes easier to keep away from anger, and we soon are also able to rest comfortably in the arms of the dragon. With a healthier body and a better relationship with our Higher Power, we never need be lonely again."
Take care,
Carol

I need to pay attention to when my HALT is broken.... LOL
Was worrying a teensy bit about how to combat a couple of these today, but I got a call and HP put in place something constructive for me to do today. I just love my HP. He's the BOMB!!
Wish I was there to run around with you today on your appt's.
