Hi Perry, welcome to the board. Yup, if you've read some of the posts, you'll know if you're in the right place. This is a good place to begin, learning to share, listening to others? But do give some consideration to meetings, where you can meet others face to face that can help you as you learn about sobriety. It's a whole, exquisite new world, once you get the hang of it. I'm glad you've joined us--it's people like you, and your sharing, that help us so much. Chris (Washington State).

Hey there Hillbilly!  Welcome to the board from a Dakotabilly.  My name is Dan, and I'm a recovering alcoholic, livin' way out here on the northern North Dakota flatlands.  I live so close to Canada that I know what Phil means when he says "eh?", eh, Phil?

Were not here to judge others, but we sure would like to do whatever we can to help you with that chance you are asking for.  We will do our level best to answer any questions you may have about AA (assuming that you haven't experienced it a lot yet...if I'm off the mark on that, sorry).

We offer each other our experience, strength and hope on this board, much as you will find at face to face AA meetings, although we all strongly recommend that new members also find a place to have that "flesh and blood" support from real, live AA meetings.

I do hope you find the peace that you seek, through recovery,

Dan

PS. If you have any questions you feel uncomfortable asking on the main board, you can also ask any one of us you do feel comfortable with, through the private messaging feature.

Hi Perry. Welcome. I'm glad you're here.

A little info that may help you.......

HOW TO GET IN TOUCH WITH A.A

In the United States and Canada, most towns and cities have A.A. groups. In such places, A.A. can be located through the local telephone directory, newspaper office, or police station, or by contacting local priests or ministers. In large cities, groups often maintain local offices where alcoholics or their families may arrange for interviews or hospitalization. These so-called intergroup associations are found under the listing “A.A.” or “Alcoholics Anonymous” in telephone directories.

At New York, USA, Alcoholics Anonymous maintains its international service center. The General Service Board of A.A. (the trustees) administers A.A.’s General Service Office, A.A. World Services, Inc., and our monthly magazine, the A.A. Grapevine.

If you cannot find A.A. in your locality, visit our Web site: www.aa.org; or a letter addressed to Alcoholics Anonymous, Box 459, Grand Central Station, New York, NY 10163, USA, will receive a prompt reply from this world center, referring you to the nearest A.A. group. If there is none nearby, you will be invited to carry on a correspondence which will do much to insure your sobriety no matter how isolated you are.

Hi Perry,

Welcome to this wonderful board. It really is a great place to be. We share our good days, not so good days and ask whatever questions are in our minds. I pop by a couple of times each day and read and post. It really does help me. I also go to two or three AA meetings each week. AA and this board are keeping me sober one day at a time. My life is really starting to turn around and it feels good.

I look forward to seeing and hearing more from you.

Take care,

Carol

Hi Perry,

Welcome to this wonderful Board, and just by your Posting, you have already made yourself one of us dear.

Look so forward to getting to know you, this Board helps everyone beat back the Demons in the Disease of Alcoholism on a day to day basis, I hope so much that you stay, and look into the Meetings of AA, where you will find your flesh and blood brothers and sisters of this Program.

I am way out here next to the Pacific Ocean, about 40 miles up from Mexico, we all come in here and are together, in this We Program.  Some of us are from the UK, and Austrailia, One BIG, little 24 hour a Day Program.

Again, Welcome!!

Toni
