Going there in sept... will need a meeting for sure. Will contact Intergroup ahead of time... but I don't know where everybody on the forum is from... wondering if by chance someone here is from the area and 'knows the meetings' in/near Oklahoma City??
My husb and I are going to visit his sons (11 and 7). He misses them so much it literally KILLS him... and all 3 of them cry together on the twice a year visits. Makes no sense for my husb to 'move closer to them', as their stepdad is in the airforce and they move around. Emotions run crazy during these visits, especially with the younger one. He has some challenges with anger and mood swings... then my husb gets angry and 'acts out', the 11 year old cries... .... (Last year they came here for 2 months in the summer, and for the second year in a row the younger one flipped over my dinig room furniture and kicked my computer tower off the base..) ... it is difficult to deal with. I have to BE THERE emotionally, and often silently, for it to 'come off' ok during these visits. My husband absolutely INSISTS that I be with him to help keep him from 'losing it'.... So I will need to get 'fed' myself while I am there.
We will certainly have a good time, but I know darn well I will be needing a meeting just to get some balance in me... make sense??
Any nuggets of wisdom or experience is appreciated. Thanks.
Absolutely no experiene in this area, I did have a Stepson, that lived with us, but that was a whole different story.
Meetings, Meetings, and Meetings, how long are you going to be there, I would suggest you find one meeting there, close to where you will be staying and let that be you Rock everyday, and just go do all the venting you might need to do, sounds like it will not be a Piece of Cake.
Do you have a laptop, so you can stay on MIP???
September is a month and a half away, good that you are making plans ahead of time. Not to worry, that's the Big one. Everything will be o.k.
Just wanted to add, that the day or days at the pool sound great, and some earphones,
for Just in Case, little Children can get their loudest at a pool area, gotta love um, but have to take care of your ears too, if you are not used to that volumne.
Hugs again, and try those little things I was writing about, when you are in a more playful mood.
