There were about 20 AA's there... mostly close girlfriends in the program... only about 2 husbands..LOL So it was a bikini-infested hot dog and brownie munching wave-runnering wonderful day!! The weather was PERRRFECT... low 80's, breezy and sunny. This house, too, was to DIE for... a 3 story A-frame, all glass on the side facing the lake... then a huge system of decks built onto the back of the house that wound around to the backyard and their private boat dock and another private deck right on the lake. We were in total bliss, I tell you. The lady of the house had planted the most amazing array of flower and plants all over the place... I just could not get enough of the day. It was so nice of them to open their home to all of us for the day.
You know, I never thought I would be able to 'have fun' sober.... what a friggin' load of SH*T!!!!!!! I never KNEW what fun was before....
Another thing, women do not usually gravitate to other women when first getting sober, as I've seen in not all, but a lot of cases... A lot of us are used to relying on men for our self-esteem, problem-solving, etc. when we first get sober... Just for me to look around and realize how many deep sisterly friendships with women I have that have stood the test of time... many over 5 years now... THAT is really a miracle and awesome. I think the 2 men who were there were running for cover when some of our funny conversations started.... LOL Imagine 18 women on a subject like, say, for instance, "Crappy boyfriends I used to have while drinking..." LOL That would send any man packing.... LOL (no offense guys... I know you all are 'healed' of your grosser handicaps now, right? )
Oh Yah... saw Spongebob at the bottom.... he said "Hi"...
I'm really pleased that your road trip was a great success for you. It sounds as if it was perfect. I do wish that there was something like that near to me.
Oh boy, could I ever identify with 'having fun' sober! There was no way, I thought, that it was possible. How completely wrong I was - thank heavens!
Take care,
Q
