I had a real bad panic attack at the cinema yesterday. I left about 4 times "to go to the loo" one time I went to the sweet stop to see if some fizzy sweets would help, that made it worse, I started getting short of breath and having to leave,.perhaps its the small space I was in

ughs..

I think I had a couple in the past month.... I couldn't catch my breath and then I felt dizzy and things looked 'sparkly'... kinda like when I used to suck on Nitrous Oxide filled balloons....

But they went away rather quickly, when i managed to STOP concentrating on my bretahing so much... I took shallow, shorter slower breaths and that helped me... Dunno about sugar... that would probably indeed make it worse..

Robert, I hope you're feeling better today.  I've never had the misfortune of having a panic attack, but from what I've heard, they really suck.

Hi Robert,

I've never had a panic attack, but I have a friend who suffers from them. I do hope that it will have been a one-off and that today is much better for you.

Take care,

Carol

hiya robert,

you don't know me i've been here for nearly a year and i've been reading some of your posts.

i suffer with panic attack also and they are SCARY to say the least, best thing i have found is to drink water, it calms the breathing ect.

the first one i had last november lasted more than 2 hours,

i find, if your lucky enough to be at home when it happens to drink from a gushing tap that makes you gulp and that sorts the breathing side of things, also take big breaths through your nose and "force" it you through you lips, lol, ya know how they tell women to breath whilst having a baby, like that!

it does help, i know they are scary but they are NOT harmful at all.

hope theses don't last too long for you as they are one of the worst things ever, coke, coffee sugar, ect are the worst things to have, i stoped drinking coffe last year because of it, and it has helped, and i know you like you coke don't you !?

take care flump
