What can family members do to help?

I am not an A. My spouse is a recovering A. Things are not going well. They seem to be worse now. What would you want from your spouse or significant other or relatives while you recover day by day?

regrets

Hi There,

Well I share Phils thoughts, no direct advice out of me.

But will offer a few thoughts, hypothetically. Don't know how long your Recovery person has been recovering, but my take on the above, when I did finally begin, day by day, it was very difficult, this new life, involved many, many struggles, and as I was feeling better, and getting better, I was aware that my family members did not know how to treat this new me. I had been pretty sick, and defininety the "Idendified Patient" in the family, As I gained some healthier ways of dealing with life, there appeared to be so much confusion of this new me, inside me, as well.

I think it is all spelled out in the Movie, "When A Man Loves a Woman" That movies speaks to that confusion, and a feeling of lossing the person, they are not leaving, but rather changing so much on the inside that they also are confused by this new life.

Hope you see that movie, and this response did not turn out to be hypothical at all.
I usually do not respond, because, in very simple terms, I have not walked in your shoes.

Alanon Members have ALL walked in your Shoes, so that is the Resource that can give you the Best Assistance to any Problems that you are experiencing.

Bless you for coming in here.

Toni
