According to a book I am reading at the moment, alot of alcoholics suffer from depression due to a particular amino acid in the brain being depleted, which then gives us little or no serotonin to fire, I am thinking of going to the Dr's today to see if this would be a safe option for me to suppliment with to help my moods.

I slept well last night which was good, I had problems sleeping last week, but I had a restful night sleep, I think when the post has come, I shall go to the sauna then a swim, id like anyones advise about the amino's this one which i have read about is only available via a dr

Morning Robert...

Book makes a lot of sense...

All I know for sure is....theres a few things up there...that were lost..and never found:)

Docs are there for a reason...Have had to see a few also....

Depression? Fight it every day...due to medical stuff..They call it clinical depression...

Have had no experience with the rest of it...except to share..that for the first while sober..I was all over the map with it...it finally came into balance on its own..through the program...

Have a good day..in the UK eh?

In response to your question a couple days ago...Im in the middle of Canada...the rockies are on the west end...bout 2500 miles away..

Hi Robert

There are different foods that help your body to make serotonin i think pasta and rice is good.. I forget...

I used to take ecstacy and that works, case you dont know, by causing the brain to release more serotonin.  Serotonin is important for happiness, memory, learning and lots of other things.. i used to look it up abit when i was doing xtc..  I cant rem all of it, prob cos i looked it up after id been drinking etc..   But i rem i always used to have a tin of rice pudding for breakfast the following day.. sometimes id have a couple of tins of it throughout the day..  Never really knew if that helped much in the serotonin department but had read that rice was one of the foods..

Iv often wonderd if i should realy be trying to eat more foods that could help in producing serotonin.

I think theres alot more on the net about this..

Id be interested in any info you get on this either by doctor or whatever..  I dont take xtc now but theres no reason to think i may have not affected my brains supply of it.  I keep meaning to look into it more seriously but as with everything it gets pushed aside for another time..

Hey rob, read a book called 7 days to sobriety, that talks about the chemical side to alcoholism and you will be able to see what type of alcoholic you are and be guided into safe ways to get the essential nutrients back in place.
