The 12-Step Program for Internet Addicts
 
 
1) I will have a cup of coffee in the morning and read my newspaper like I use to.

2) I will eat breakfast with a knife and fork and not with one hand typing.

3) I will get dressed before noon.

4) I will make an attempt to clean the house, wash the dog, get the kids off to school, all before even thinking of the Internet.

5) I will sit down and write a letter to those unfortunate few friends and
family that are Internet-deprived.

6) I will call someone on the phone who I cannot contact via the Internet.

7) I will read a book...if I still remember how.

8) I will listen to those around me and their needs and stop telling them to turn the TV down so I can hear what is happening on the Web.

9) I will not be tempted during TV commercials to check for email.

10) I will try and get out of the house at least once a week, if it is necessary or not.

11) I will remember that my bank is not forgiving if I forget to balance my checkbook because I was too busy on my computer.

12) Last, but not least, I will remember that I must go to bed some time....and the Internet will always be there tomorrow

Computer Haiku
Instead of the unhelpful Microsoft error messages, Japanese haiku poetry.
Each only 17 syllables, in the 5 7 5 format.

For a new PC,
Center of my universe,
I abandon all.

A file that big?
It might be very useful.
But now it is gone.

No keyboard present
Hit F1 to continue
Zen engineering?

The web site you seek
Cannot be located but
Countless more exist.

Chaos reigns within.
Reflect, repent, and reboot.
Order shall return.

Aborted effort:
Close all that you have worked on.
You ask way too much.

Windows NT crashed.
I am the blue screen of death.
No one hears your screams.

Yesterday it worked.
Today it is not working.
Windows is like that.

Printer not ready.
Could be a fatal error.
Have a pen handy?

First snow, then silence.
This thousand dollar screen dies
So beautifully.

With searching comes loss

Oh my, you went to a lot of thought and effort on this, and I LOVE it.  I have no creativity in these areas and I so admire those who do!!!!!  However, I am an awesome copycat so I am going to copy these and send them to my kids who work at Microsoft.  They will enjoy them immensely!   That was wonderful, Thanks  You can do this again anytime the mood strikes you, will look forward to it.

Phil, I think I went blind for a moment trying to read your post. And you know, a funny thing is, everytime I go back to read it, I momentarily go blind. Now what's up with that?

I do agree,  I think it is in the ink,  I cannot seem to read it through,  only about the first line and then the page goes Blank,


Phil,  are you cutting and Pasting in the same way?  Optical problems from two people now!Selective Reading,.............. is that anything like Selective Hearing, Justin  ????
