You gotta believe in a couple things here. One that if millions of others can get sober, through this process, so can you, by duplication. The other is that this disease will kill, in a 100,000 different ways. I played around with the idea of being sober in AA for two years. I never made it to 3 months in that time frame. After a serious of unfortunate events, I became willing to do whatever I'd heard others and the program suggest got and kept them sober. I wanted to insure that I stayed sober. I attended meetings daily for the first 3.5 years. I was a typical "garden variety" drunk. drank 6-24 beers a day. I was fortunate in that every thing I heard or read pretty much described me. Get busy, get a old timer for a sponsor and become willing to do whatever it takes. You'll be amazed before you are half way through..... I want you to think about all the things in life that you wished you could do, and how many of them that alcohol is standing in the way of. Time to stop thinking of booze as your liberator and realize that's it's your gate keeper.

In an earlier post You've said your father is an AssHole...
Is this because he does not care about you
the way you think he should?
That would be kinda' selfish
and something You might want to take an
honest look at in your Step Four.
Get rid of this resentment, Buddy.
Could lead you to drink.
