Furballs, anyone?

Just wondering if anyone's got some furballs in their life that helps them get through the day. Anytime I'm feeling down at work, I can take a little break, pop out my iPod, and play some music while looking at pictures of my pets--instant healing for me.

Bennie loved me unconditionally...really helped me laugh and get through some hard times. He passed last year, but I can imagine him reborn as a panther in the Serengetti (I'm sure I misspelled that).

Clyde...helped me learn about making amends, patience, and keeping my side of the street clean.

Noah...passed last month. He taught me....well...not much, but he was a cute little bugger.

And Boyd, who I share custody with my ex. If he's in a car, keep it above 50mph or his head explodes.

So any pets out there? And let's see pictures! (You can upload them at imagevenue.com for free)

There is a feral cat that adopted me. A feral cat is one born outside. She is a calico (tricolor). She is now about 14 maybe? About 8 years ago (has it really been that long now?) I used to visit next door, and she would come close,, so I started getting food and taught her to eat it out of my hand,, and then to let me pet her head while she eats. She was so hungry,, had a few litters. When I'd sit out with the lady next door the cat would come and sit a few feet away.  Then the lady next door died,,,  and now there is a guy with a mean dog there.  So I let the cat come in here for stormy winter warmth and shelter at first. We were kind of scared of each other at first,, and she would only stay in for a few hours at a time. Now, she has decided she is a house cat. Very well behaved. She goes out for a few minutes,, checks out her old haunts, looks at the yard next door,,, and then comes back in, glad not to have to deal with dogs, young male cats, storms.  She is also teaching me a lot...  mainly about trust, but also about being mellow and patient.  Sometimes she just kind of gets comfortable in her little clean bed and purrs and purrs and purrs contentedly... talk about grateful, eh?

Oh, I have a bunch of furballs here! I doubt I can post many photos, but right now, we have 12 cats, and 2 kittens.  I'll try to post photos of the oldest (Alice, a sweet nearly 17 year old who is lucky to have outlived her prognosis  from last June of six months tops to live-she had a cancerous eye (removed) and cancer under her tongue. She's doing pretty well right now. Alice is the tortoiseshell mostly black cat in the photos.

The other two kitties hopefully shown are Severus Trent and Sidney.  Severus Trent is a Hurricane Katrina kitten born July 13, 2005.  He's very vocal, loves to eat, and has been attacking the older cats today.  Sidney is much more calm and really loves people-he was found in some woods locally, and didn't get adopted for a while because everyone wanted the Katrina kittens. These boys love each other, and are soemtimes hilarious to watch as they lie in wait for each other, or perform aerial crashes into each other. My sister and I guess that Sidney is a bit younger than Severus T.

These are three of our kitties, I may post more later on-or some of my dear departed cats, who were also lovely and are much missed.  (Not sure if I can find a digital photo of our dog who died a couple years ago-she was really cute, too!)

Pets add a lot to my life, and always have. Hey, they are even some of my reasons to stay sober! Hope you like the photos! (OK, the Alice ones are too big, I should have tried to use the link given-guess I can try later. Sorry! Can't even delete my links! And now i have to get to bed!:(

Hi folks,

Like Amanda, we have feral cats that we take care of.  I'm allergic so we can't have them, but its kind of like alcohol - I'm crazy about the stuff I can't have.  I don't have pictures, but might try to get some later.  The three cats we feed are Stompy, Mookie, and Fluffy.  They're your prototypical city alley cats - real rough looking characters - that are really just sweethearts.  We feed them and have occasionally taken them for medical attention.  Sheila loves them, and squeals whenever she sees them, but they keep her at a measured and comfortable distance.  It's a lot of fun.  What a cool thread!   Mike

I have two rough characters, A mean stray and  his sruffy older girlfriend. The often aggravate me with their arrogant, free-looader attitude of entitlement. They probably remind me of the (hopefully,) former "me". Sometimes I think of calling animal control. But when they're gone I miss them a little. "Live and Let Live?"  -paul
