Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love, Where there is injury, pardon Where there is doubt, faith, Where there is despair, hope, Where there is darkness, light, Where there is sadness, joy. O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console, not so much to be understood as to understand, not so much to be loved, as to love; for it is in giving that we receive, it is in pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in dying that we awake to eternal life.
Thanks for the reminder of that. I think the single biggest thing I had to learn, though again,,, it sounds simple but is hard to do,,, is to stay positive and constructive no matter what is happening. It's like that serenity one Doll put up... staying serene through the storms. I have found that there are two energies,, positive and negative... creative energy and destructive energy. When someone or even everyone is being negative our tendency is to get negative also... to get mad, to argue back, to get revenge, to hurt them, hostility,, fight back,,, an eye for an eye, and all of that. But it doesn't help anything, only compounding the evil. If we can stay positive and constructive, being lights in the darkness, 'where there is hatred let me sow love',, it is much better. Another song that is often sung with that one is 'Let it begin with me'. So often we wait for the other to apologize, or begin the reconciliation process, or show good faith, or something,,, while we ourselves are too proud,,, and the relationships just fall apart. Someone said, "mercy has to start somewhere". and that is what mercy is,, being more loving to someone than they deserve. It's all about mercy. It's all about being lights in the darkness. It's all about keeping the love energy flowing no matter what.
God bless you all,,,
love in recovery,
amanda
