I've just made the decision to start aa. I'm at the bottom and see little light ahead. Alcohol is running my life and I realize I'm no longer able to control my world. I have found a local chapter that I want to visit and frankly I'm scared to death. I know there are others here that have been where I am.

Welcome Scott...good for you to decide to go to AA. I remember the first meeting, and believe me, I have never regretted going. Sounds like you have already taken the first step...admitted you are powerless over alcohol. Please go to a meeting as soon as possible, then post and tell us how it was.

There are a lot of great people here who will share their experience, strength and hope with you. So keep posting and reading.

Good Luck Scott

Don't change your mind !!  Get to a meeting as soon as possible and tell them your new. They should ask if there are any newcomers. Thats your time.  Hang after the meeting and u will be surprised. Usually someone try to talk with u.  We've all walked thru the door. If u know anyone who goes give them a call to go with u.

Hi There,

The first meeting was the hardest.  Walking in the door is hard, but it is possible.  Sounds like you have made a decision to go.  And I hope that you do.

Reminds of that saying "Fear Knocked, Faith Answered, and no one was there"  Fear is just an emotion. Once you raise your hand, when they ask if there are any new people, I think, just like Rick mentioned, the fear begins to go away, replaced with a warm and loving welcome.  So go ahead and walk right through that friggen fear.  You won't be sorry.  Guaranteed!!!

Please let us all know how it goes for you. We all wish you the very BEST.  A life without Alcohol is an amazing process.  it is the beginning of a Brand New Life for you. One that you don't want to miss.

A Big Hug to you,

Toni

It gets better! Even if it feels like it never will, things will probably turn around if you can dive into AA- Thanks for the intro-

Joel
