This story is about a mountain climber who wanted to climb the highest mountain. He began his adventure after many years of preparation, but since he wanted the glory all for himself, he decided to climb the mountain alone.
The night fell heavy in the heights of the mountain and the man could not see anything. All was black. Zero visibility. The moon and the stars were covered by the clouds. Yet he continued to climb feeling sure he was close to glory.
With only a few feet separating him from the top of the mountain, he slipped and fell, falling through the air at great speeds. The climber could only see black spots as he went down and a terrible sensation of being sucked in by gravity. He kept falling... and in those moments he felt great fear. Through his mind passed all the good and bad of his life.
He was thinking about how close to death he was getting when all of a sudden he felt the rope tied to his waist yanked tight and he stopped falling. Now suspended in air, only the rope was holding him. Dispair filled every fiber of his being and he cried out, "GOD HELP ME!"
Before the words were even out of his mouth, he heard a great voice coming from the darkness and it said, "What do you want me to do?" The man cried, "Save me, God!" The voice said, "Do you really believe I can save you?" "Of course I believe, God!" answered the man. "Then cut the rope tied to your waist and let go," God replied.
The next day the rescue team found the climber frozen and dead, both hands tightly clasping the rope and his body suspended only ten feet from the ground.
