Anger is an appropriate response to physical danger and pain. Anger is not an appropriate response to mental, ego, or self-esteem danger and pain. Anger is about hurt. Anger is about hurt that can be actual, imaginary, or potential. The hurt can be vicarious, that is, about others rather than self. The three steps of anger: hurt to anxiety to anger. Anger is about anxiety about hurt. Anger is problem-solving anxiety about hurt.

oh wow!!! phil, i was exploding with rage over my life, and i knew, somehow i knew it was based on hurt.....and i believe, too, that anger is a FEAR based emotion......first i was frightened/ helpless feeling over my circumstances than the ANGER/RAGE came in as a result of it.........thanks for this very thought provoking share...........i am doin ok, hang in there, hope U R doing great!!!!!!! see ya/ rosie
