Face life Fear is often much more destructive than that which is feared. Anxiety can often be far more harmful than those things about which you are anxious.

Avoiding effort can be more difficult and time-consuming than the effort itself. Worrying about a negative situation is usually more prolonged and painful than experiencing the situation itself.

Life is best when you face it directly. Your efforts are far more effective when they don't have to push through layers of denial, avoidance and anxiety.

When something must be said, stand up and say it. When something needs to be done, get busy and do it.

It can be tempting to put tasks off until later, or to think that problems will just go away, or to hope that some magical occurrence will fulfill your desires. Yet the truth is that the real fulfillment in life comes from putting all of yourself into the living of it.

So go ahead and face that fear, make that effort, move forward into new territory and fully live the grand possibilities with which you're blessed. Boldly face life, and you'll find it to be better than you ever imagined.

-- Ralph Marston

A Great Day for Recovery!

NONSENSE

"We find it hard to believe that other people's thoughts are as silly as our own, but they probably are."
-- James Harvey Robinson
Today I am able to laugh at myself. I even "think" funny things. I sit at airports and look at the faces, postures and mannerisms of the people passing by and I smile, giggle and laugh in my handkerchief. Then I think about what a funny man I am -- so ridiculously proud, so pompous about the silliest things, so preoccupied about my own importance -- and it is funny.

Yes, today I am able to laugh at myself. I know that people are funny because I know I am. At meetings I hear people laughing about the day's insanities and I can always identify. Even my relationships are humorous. I try so hard to make a good impression while at the same time offering the effect of detachment -- trying to be "cool".

God must have a sense of humor because He made you and me!

Thank You for the gift of humor -- it allows true humility to develop.

Hi Wendy. The post on fear is so true, my fiencee panics just before we do a ghost hunt, scared as to how she'll react if things start flying round the rooms (again). Once she is on the premises and absorbed by recording data or operating a night vision camera, she's always fine no matter what happens.

The other section of your post contained one bit that really made sence. Learning to laugh at yourself is one of the most valuable skills that anyone can learn.

Hope your having a great day,

Best wishes.

Chris.

Fear hu? Crawling out of bed in the morning, and into bathroom---looking over counter and glancing into the mirror, and letting out a blood curdling scream.

Yup--thats fear.:)

Laughter? Yup-some days its not easy to do that--but its the best medicine there is. Well--hmmmm-ok then--almost the best medicine.:)

You guys have a nice night.
