At last I feel that something is happening about the neck problem that I have had for the last four months. It is causing me constant pain and discomfort and most 'over the counter' pain relief just doesn't get near it. I saw my GP again today and the good news is that I am seeing a highly recommended osteopath tomorrow morning.
So, at least I feel that something is happening at last and that I might be able to look forward to being pain-free fairly soon again!
On my way home from seeing the GP it struck me how grateful I am that I'm not drinking and that having a drink truly hasn't entered my head. I have a lot to be grateful for and I am celebrating it all by going to a meeting this evening. I am so truly lucky that I have found AA and met some truly wonderful people there and here on MIP, too.
Take care everyone and have a great day.
Carol

SOOOOOOO glad you get to see an osteopath, Carol. I hope that you and your new doctor can figure out a way to overcome this that truly treats and fixes the underlying problem.
I hope you get some RESULTS, my friend. I would make a list of possible treatments and ask him/her to get BUSY figuring out which to try first!
AA does indeed give us the gumption to get things taken care of in the right ways now, instead of drinking our pain and problems away. I am so glad you have something to look forward to regarding this frsutrating condition. I know you want a solution today, not just a "bandaid". So glad for our program, and for wondeful people here like you!!
Hoping you get some results fast, and keep your chin up (if it doesn't hurt to badly to do that!!!)
((((hugs)))) Joni

Well, the osteopath was terrific and my neck is feeling so much better already. I have another session with him next week and some good exercises to do in the meantime. I just feel so much brighter about everything now that there is an answer and I can see a way forward.
Have a great day.

I've had neck issues also, and I've always found that it was related to my posture sitting, or lying down sleeping. It sounds to simple I know, but both times with me it was the case. Pay attention to your posture at work and at home, sitting and lying down and see if imporving it helps. Particularly sitting at a desk and typiing/reading a monitor. The monitor should be at eye/head level elevated 12"-18" off your dest so you look slightly up at it.
Lying down watching tv and having your head proped up with a pillow at an angle will also casue misalignment of you neck and pain etc...
Thanks for that guys. And, yes, Dean, the osteopath did mention a few things about my posture, especially when I'm sitting at my PC. But, it was good to read what you have said and I now have it printed out and right next to my monitor (which is now at the correct height!).
Thanks everyone ... you're the greatest!

It's very important to stretch, as we get older. taking a class on it will amaze you at how thight your muscles are. Getting a 1 hour full body massage once a month (twice a month if possible) will also work wonders for mind and body. Just taking the time and spending the money on yourself is self love and results in increased self worth and self esteem smile and say "I'm worth it!"
Thanks so much for those links, I do appreciate it. I have now bookmarked them and I'll check them out later today when I have a little more time. I agree that it is very important to stretch and that's something that I haven't been doing recently. So, as of today, that changes!
Take care,
Carol
