I just watched Intervention and they had said that when someone stops drinking they get seizures - according to the National Institutional of Health or something like it. Well my mom used to have seizures but hasn't since I was 8 (I'm 20 going on 21) now I'm even more scared about the idea of her quitting drinking - not that it is going to happen in the near future - before I was only scared about her having DTs now I'm scared she's have that and seizures.
When I stopped drinking I just put down the bottle and went to AA. I didn't have any seizures, although I did have a few pretty unpleasant days. I think that it all depends on how much the person drinks and how long they have been drinking for and their general health. Is there a medically qualified person, such as your GP, that you could talk to about it and get some reassurance?
In the meantime, here are a couple of links that you might find helpful:-
I Watched that show too. I always like to see what could be if I where to start drin king again. Any way I did not have srizers, but did have a bad case of the shakes. She really needs to go see her doctor before attempting quitting, and be truethful with them. The can help her get through it.
