i haven't been to a meeting for a week, and dont know when i'll go to one next. the reason being that ive been sick as a parrot since friday night. this horrible fever came over me and i felt like my body was on fire. haven't eaten hardly anything for four days- but starting to eat a bit more now. i will have to rest for a little longer.
so i will use the powers of the 21st century to remind myself that:
"my name is senor mouse and i am STILL an alcoholic!"

Sorry that you are feeling unwell with a horrible fever. I do hope that you'll soon be feeling better.
I know that you are in UK and here is a link to an on-line AA meeting that is held every Wednesday evening at 8pm. I used to use it when I first came to AA and couldn't get to as many meetings as I needed. It's not the same as a f2f meeting, but it was better than nothing. I hope it helps.

Greetings and salutations Senor mounse. I wish that you felt better and hope that you have a speedy recovery. If you're feeling that bad for that long perhaps you should take yourself to the doctor. Sometimes we forget to take care of ourselves. apologies if you've already been.
btw, ever taken echinacea remedy? i took it for a similar flu/cold thing about three years ago, at the very end of my drinking. amazing immune boosting properties, but it came in an alcohol based tincture. haven't used it since. just started taking it in tablet form, so hopefully it will give me more resistance to horrible illnesses in the future!

Yes, I regularly take echinacea tablets. I have been taking them for several years now and I rarely get any colds or fevers. They really do work.
I hope that if you check out that on-line meeting tonight it will be a good one. It's been a while since I was there, but I might make the time one of these Wednesdays.
Take care,
Carol

from what i've heard, taking it after a cold sets in doesn't work that well. It's an amune system builder not a cold remedy. Some people say that if you start taking it at the very first sign of a cold that it will help.
I've had very good experience with Zicam products and zinc. Cold-eze cough drops (with zinc and echinacea). Don't know it these are available in the UK.
Hiya, Senor. I hope you're feeling a little better. Warmest regards sent your way for the duration. I hope being here with us goes some way to helping you feel loved & nurtured in fellowship. I know my head would be way off further still! if I didn'y have MIP tween meets so thanks for being here. I hope you get much better soon. Blesses with you, Danielle :)

I was curious about that as I had wondered how quickly echinacea started to work. I have just come across this and I hope it helps.
'A University of Maryland review of available studies concluded that Echinacea, when taken at first sign of a cold, reduced cold symptoms or shortened their duration. This conclusion was based on 13 European studies.
'Not all species of Echinacea are equally effective. A Cochrane review of the published studies has found that there is some evidence of benefit in the treatment (but not prevention) of the common cold by the aerial parts of Echinacea purpurea.'
I do hope that you'll soon be feeling better.
Take care,
Carol
