Had a good day today, in better spirits :)

My mom came out here this morning, to clean house for me, and do some shopping for me...  she actually wound up staying the night and will go home in the morning before she goes to work, cuz by the time she got done shopping it was dark and starting to rain...

I got in with my regular dr today, she prescribed a stronger dose of pain pills, and also put me on oral steroids....  I told her I can't take them, but she said it wasn't actually prednisone....  well....  I got them, and it's the same one that made me sick before, but I'll try it again, see how it does.  The steroid shot is already starting to wear off, have been in some pain today, but still much better than it has been.  She said the oral steroids would help more.

Mom did my shopping while I laid down in the car, but I forgot to give her my prescriptions to take in, so I went back in with her to get those, took 40 minutes to get them filled, and was hurting quite a bit after being up that long.  But am feeling better after some rest...

Mom had told me she wasn't gonna cook....  but we got back and she made muffins, and baked a carrot cake cuz I'd bought some cake mix before my back went out....  she'd also brought me some cheesecake that she'd had at home... and bought me ice cream....  yet she told me I shouldn't eat poptarts cuz they aren't healthy  lmao  I'm getting spoiled rotten  lol

Got to talk to my bf too for a bit tonight, he's tryin to spoil me rotten too  lol  We were both lookin at the Mack Truck catalog, and I'd told him a few things I liked in there....  he jumped on the computer and went ahead and put in his order for what he was gonna get himself, and also got me the cap and shirt and a bulldog beanie pillow and throw that I wanted... like I need to be spoiled any more than I already am.....  lol

Mom also did some of my laundry and while she was at Walmart she got me a clothesline and rack to dry my clothes on, cuz I don't have a working dryer, and it's a pain having to hang everything on the shower curtain rod or on doors  lol

not hurting too bad anymore, as long as I take it real easy, I can't stay up very long, definitely can't sit or stand very long, but am able to do some things, which makes me feel a bit better...  it was definitely good for me to have some company today, my mom and I don't always really get along, and usually she acts like I overreact about things, but with this she knows I've been in some pretty bad pain and knows I can't do much, and is helpin out as much as she can and I'm really grateful for that

Anyway...  it's after midnight, and bf's gonna start callin at 6am to get me up, so I can make sure mom's up and headed out in time for her to get ready for work....  so I'm gonna try to get some sleep.... it'd be real nice if some of these meds knocked me out....  but one of them seems like it might be keepin me awake....  been so wide awake when I ought to be tired... lol

Oh, and someone mentioned in one of their replies to me that maybe I need to be lying down more, rather than being on the computer...?  I've got a laptop, so I'm stayin in bed...  computer on my tummy propped up against my legs  lol   So don't worry about that  :)   If I had to sit at a desk, I wouldn't be on here at all  lol

Hugs and Love to all...

Lisa

Glad you're feeling some better. I understand your pain. I too was put on prednisone just yesterday. Yep! they make me feel like crappola, and I'll gain 8-10 lbs, but man they work! Gets rid of the inflamtion, atleast for a short while, so choke um down, hun!

I go to bed everynight literally packed in ice! And that is getting  old. weirdface

I can relate, also, to the pain meds keeping you up. Doc gave me Dilaudid a while back and although I felt 'loopy' , I couldn't sleep, which made me feel worse. I look back on it and see it as a blessing. This alkie is terribly afraid of trading one addiction for another. So, I tossed that crap!

One thing that helps me, sitting on a chair leaned over with my elbows on my knees. It's supposed to 'open up' the spinal area that's causing the pain. It's not a fix, but I find I do get some relief. Stretching, carefully, yoga, or just walking always helps too. Any form of exercise helps. Give it a try. Do what you can stand.

Oh! If you're not doing it already, put a pillow under your knees for elevation while sleeping. Works wonders.
(((hugs)))) and prayers.

I'm glad you're feeling loved & nurtured now, Lisa. Just what you need! It was me worrying that you might be up on a comp doing yourself in. The thought of you propped up in bed on a pillow with your little laptop sounds really cozy. Bloody heck if I had one I'd be in danger of doing that just on a day off! lol That's cuz I can be a lazy moo ;) Get well soon, chica. Thinking of you, Danielle x

Thanks y'all....  still hurting pretty bad, at least when the meds are wearing off...  but sleeping a lot now where at least I don't have to feel it...

Doll, what is wrong with your back?  I did have my mom get me a pillow for putting under my legs, seems like it might help just a bit.  I have noticed the best position is lying on my back with my knees up, which is how I am when I'm on the computer  lol   And leaning forward does help, my mom got on to me, told me I need to sit up straight, told her I *can't* sit up straight, but it does help to lean forward like that.

The steroids thankfully aren't making me sick, and these stronger pain pills are knocking me out, along with the muscle relaxer....  pain pills only seem like they last about 6 hours and I'm only supposed to take them 2 or 3 times a day, but the muscle relaxer is every 8 hours, so I suffer through it till I can take that and it knocks me back out.  I hate this, being just drugged out all the time, but it's better than dealing with the pain....  I have a real high pain tolerance, but this is unbearable without the meds.

Lani, the steroid is a z-pack, so taking it throughout the day, but am sleeping fine now with all these other meds...  pretty much doing nothing but sleep.  Trust me, I'm not gonna over do it, still hurting quite a bit now that the steroid shot is out of my system, the meds help at least a bit.

Danielle, I lie in bed with my laptop even when I'm not hurting  lol  or just sit on the couch with it.  Definitely glad I've got a laptop though and am able to still get online or I'd go crazy  lol
