A.A. Thought for the Day ~

Do I realize that I do not know how much time I have left? It may be later than I think. Am I going to do the things that I know I should do before my time runs out? By the way, what is my purpose for the rest of my life? Do I realize all I have to make up for in my past wasted life? Do I know that I am living on borrowed time and that I would not even have this much time left without A.A. and the grace of God? Am I going to make what time I have left count for A.A.?

Meditation for the Day ~

We can believe that somehow the cry of the human soul is never unheard by God. It may be that God hears the cry, even if we fail to notice God's response to it. The human cry for help must always evoke a response of some sort from God. It may be that our failure to discern properly keeps us unaware of the response. But one thing we can believe is that the grace of God is always available for every human being who sincerely calls for help. Many changed lives are living proofs of this fact.

Prayer for the Day ~

I pray that I may trust God to answer my prayer as He sees fit. I pray that I may be content with whatever that answer may take.

Hazelden

(Let it be a God or Higher Power of your own understanding)

I do believe 'God' works through people. The life~force of needing & being there for each other. It is said that no human power could have relieved me of my alcoholism & maybe I'm not up to understanding that too deeply yet but so far it has been through people & with my desire that I have stayed sober. I do not underestimate the power of this fellowship. You help feed my desire for sobriety. You are all 'God's work & my confidence & faith is restored perpetually. I believe in you. Just like you believe in me. If that's God then that's my understanding. Thanks for your care, Danielle x

(Ps. If it comes down to the fact of human nature just needing to be needed & there for each other besides the label, I believe in that too. My belief is that God is a super~personal choice. Just like sobriety). Some days I don't believe in God at all. For me, that's the irony & the joy of it. Anyway, I don't mean to get into anything here. I just want you to know that I post the 24 with an open mind not an axe to grind! Take what you like & leave the rest. Thanks for letting me be here. Have a Gr8 Day.. Dx

Time for Bob Earle's famous story.

There were two men in Alaska having a discussion one night about God. One man was a believer and the other was an Atheist. Well the Atheist said "I gave God a chance to help me one time" and he began to tell his story about a dog sled trip gone wrong. "It was my first time out dog sledding on my own and I was only going for the day. All was going well till mid afternoon when a blizzard came out of no where. The temperature dropped to to 20 below, It got suddenly dark and you couldn't see your hand in front of your face. I didn't know where I was or how to get back to town and wasn't dressed for the cold front that had swept in. I knew that if I didn't make it back I'd never survive the night." The other man asked "so what did you do?". The Atheist replied "I was willing to do just about anything, so I got down on my knees and prayed for God to save me". The other man said "So God obviously answered your prayer because you're here". "No he did not" said the Atheist,
"some damned old Eskimo just happened along a few minutes later and I followed him back into town"

Now Bob Earle (who's a popular AA circuit speaker) finished the story and he said "Be grateful for the Eskimos" and went to say that "God is way too busy to make personal appearances, so He works through people".
