Well, winds up that I'm moving back to Mississippi..... once I'd told my dad I was going to California, he offered me a house to rent... well I've been in Arkansas visiting family, and finally realized that financially I just can't do the trip to california... also, although I'm not afraid of hard work, realizing things I'd have to do out there (chopping wood and stuff), I don't think I can physically handle it... So I called my dad the other day, he called back yesterday and said I can rent the house from him, it's in Falkner, MS out in the country in a "town" of 200 people lol I'll be 7 miles from a town that I can do shopping at... it'll be about like where I was in Nebraska actually I guess...
It's a 2 bedroom house, with 4 acres, my dad said I can have chickens there, and it sounds like he might help me get it set up for chickens :) I'll have to build a coop, and with being right on the highway I might not be able to freerange them, I dunno, we'll see. I don't like penning chickens up, I've seen how much healthier free-range are compared to ones kept in a pen..... but we'll see... I'll have to see the property and see how far away from the road I could set up the coop and all that...
I didn't want to stay in the south... but don't have a whole lot of choice, and this works out better, I'm sure my dad will help me get the house set up... I don't have much of any furniture at all, I'll get my old futon back from my sis, and if my ex still has my bookcases I can probably get those. Maybe I'll look for an auction out there, see if my dad will go with me, to get furniture and household stuff... and there's always freecycle too. I'll travel one of these days and get outta the south..... just can't do it yet.
I've also started looking into schools in that area, there is a community college about an hour away, which wouldn't be too bad... still lookin into all that, hoping to start in the spring if I can...
Anyway... laptop battery's about to die... just wanted to let y'all know what's goin on...
I just moved to Kentucky, and it's actually pretty cool here. I know how hard it is to have everything so up in the air, but it sounds like you are really being taken care of. Congrats!
Yknow, oddly enough, Lisa. we've been sorta hemmin and hawin about Charleston, Mississippi. Is it very far? Guess I could look it up, huh?
Things work out the way they're supposed to, given time. I'm glad to hear that one, your Dad is steppin' up and two, you will get to have your feathers again. I know how much that means to you. Keep us updated, yes? love chris
