How many stores do we pass on the way to work that we used to stop at to buy our fix? I can count at least 5 (regular stops).  It is like my car is pre-programmed to pull in to that store. But now, I just keep driving to my destination.

You ever see the movie "28 Days"? Near the end she's walking down the street near her home in NYC and passes these bars full of people partying after work. I saw tghat and said to myself "oh- I know that feeling." Gotta figure those bars are full of people who don't have drinking problems and people who do. The way I figure it I'll be seeing some of them down the road a ways. hmm

For me it was the Grocery Store on the way home from work and the Quickie Mart at the end of my street! Therefore, I don't go into either anymore......Not even the QM for a loaf of bread if I'm out. :)

I pass several places I used to go. I know which has the coldest and which has the cheapest. But I remind myself, I don't need it today. And today is all I need to worry about. Once it's in my rearview, I'm happy that I made the choice to feel better.

I'm really fortunate to have moved to my present location 15 years ago with 3 years of sobriety. It's nice not to have a memory or alcohol stop on every corner like in northern Va where I spent most of my drinking / drugging years. I was gloating about it 10 years ago that I've never drank in the county that I live in, but then I remembered honeymoon #1 in Clearwater, so now I can say that I've never drank or drugged in the city I live in. : )
