25 days sober now... :) Getting my 1 month chip while I'm down in Memphis next week! I can't wait to go home and see everyone!!! I fly out on Tuesday, will be back the following Tuesday. I will have internet access down there, so I'll be able to check in...
Haven't been getting to enough meetings lately... but am going when I'm able to. My roommate was out of town for 10 days helping out on our friend's farm, then he came home for a couple of days, and we got one meeting on Wednesday while he was home, but there's so much to do around here that we missed the meeting Thursday... he had to go back to our friend's farm today, and my car's broken down, but I got someone to pick me up for the Friday night meeting I really like. I'll try to find a ride to a meeting tomorrow night probably, and the person that brought me home from the meeting tonight said she'd pick me up for one on Sunday. I hate asking people to pick me up, we're so far out of the way here, but my roommate told me to go ahead and call them and ask them to take me tonight, that they wouldn't mind, it's service work. And they didn't mind at all. The woman that brought me home tonight actually lives only maybe 9 or 10 miles up the highway.
All my babies are doing good... well, no, not really, I have two hurt turkeys. One was my friend's, and she had them in hog pens, well, the floor in those hog pens isn't good for birds, he got his leg stuck and tore a ligament in his knee. We took him to our vet friend and got him taped up, actually his legs are now taped together to hold it in place. Well, I noticed last night one of mine had the same problem just not quite as bad. I got him taped up today after talking to Doc. The one I got from my friend is doing really good, he's learning to "hop" a little lol he can sit up on the bottom half of his legs where they're taped and is eating and drinking really good. The other one hasn't figured out how to sit up like that yet, and is having to stay laying on his side. I got both of them in a box today with the food and water in between them so they can eat and drink, but they get their water really messy from hopping/sliding around and I still have to take them out and give them water. Got the guineas in a larger cage today and they're loving it, room to run around and fly a little. And the chicks are doing great now, gotta get their cage cleaned up tomorrow though, time to change out the bedding. My other turkeys got moved out to the barn today and I went and checked on them awhile ago with a flashlight, they're huddled under the light out there, they *might* be a little chilly, but when I held them they felt warm enough, so I think they're alright. I've been weaning them away from the heat, and only have a 100watt lightbulb on them now, which would be plenty heat but I have to keep it on top of their cage so I don't risk a fire, I rigged it where it shouldn't get knocked off, so it's pretty far away from them and probably isn't getting much heat on them.
My roommate called tonight, said he got me a chicken coop! 10x14, should be plenty big enough! We just gotta get our friend to haul it down here, and since it's so big we gotta get a permit to haul it. The guy we're getting it from was going to burn it because he didn't need it, said we could have it for free! I think we're also getting a 10x10 building from our friend, which could be another chicken coop, or a storage building. And we got a really nice dog kennel from freecycle, 8x14, would make a great pen for the ones I'll be keeping separate to breed!
Anyway... enough rambling from me... I need to get busy reading step 3... my sponsor's been on my case the last couple of times I've talked to her to get busy reading lol

lmao Phil! My dog's a little alcoholic... she used to drink margaritas... and vodka and sprite... and bourbon and coke... lol never actually got her drunk, but let her have a few drinks of mine lol And she's got major co-dependency issues, between her and my roommate's dog and me and my roommate, we could at least start a CODA meeting here! lol
Hi Lisa, Definitely a farm you got going there. Nice pics. Just wondering if you got in to see that dr. about your back and how that situation is going. Co-dependent animals? LOL My daughter is moving within the month. Has a little terrier/chiquaqua mix dog named Natty. She LOVES this dog! It reciprocates. Farmers in and out of my lane in various vehicles...... YET the little thing KNOWS the difference in the sound of the engines. She will raise up and waltz around alerting us the others are in the drive. BUT let my daughter's car pull in and she is at the back door jumping up and down. (Just like a little kid whose parent has return!) As for my car......about 1/10 of that excitement. LOL My daughter seems to think the landlord will not allow pets. Natty will surely be heart broken. May have to do a "program" with her about "no control (over others)" and "letting go". LOL Great to see you're finding ways to get to meetings. Each one helps. Wanda
My sponsor back home called my dog my little ala-dog lol My roommate's gonna have such problems with her when I go home for the visit... she doesn't mind anyone but me at all, she didn't even mind my exhusband. She'll have to stay in the kennel outside most the time, and we need to etch my new number on her tag and keep her collar on while I'm gone just in case...
Wanda, I got my MRI done, but haven't heard from my doctor about the results... I'm getting really sick of that dr office, they're bad about getting back to me, it's been a week since the MRI. I got an appointment set up with the dr my friend and roommate are seeing, and set it up to get my xray and MRI results sent to him. I see him on June 22, unfortunately it's a morning appointment, not sure how well that will work out... guess I could stay up all night to make sure I make it...
Well, since I'm without a car... I guess I'll take a walk to the gas station to get some cigs, and check out the new coffeeshop they just opened here in town... they closed the one that was there, someone bought it, and opened a new one... I had no idea what time it opens so was waiting around awhile till I was sure it'd be open. Surely a coffeeshop would be open by 10:30? lol
