wired and in a cleaning mood...

12 days sober...  smile

I pulled an all-nighter last night...  roommate's over at our friend's house for the weekend helping to plant the tons of bushes and trees they bought at an auction...  So...  I went to a meeting last night, did the grocery shopping, got home and cleaned out my babies' cages, cleaned out the fridge, made up some lemonade...  played around on the computer til about 1am and still wasn't tired...  so...

I started boxing up our winter clothes, putting away clean clothes, and straightened up the shelf my roommate keeps his clothes on...  that took me most the night...  then when it got light outside I took care of the critters, and took a jambox out to the truck we store stuff in...  and started sorting out the tons of clothes our friend brought over for us to sell or give away on freecycle...  found some clothes that will fit me, and some that I'm hanging on to until I lose more weight...  clothes for my little neices, and some for my friend back home, and a few things that might fit my roommate...  And there will be a couple of bags for our friend to go through when she comes over...  taking pictures of the nicer stuff for when we post it on freecycle...  still not done with it, needed a break.

Then when I talked to my roommate he said there's more clothes in the stepvan...  I went and looked when I got off the phone with him, and it's several large trashbags stuffed full...  so I gotta go through those too...

Then my next project is tackling the bedroom...  there's boxes to sort through, and stuff that will go to the auction, and I need to make room for another shelf for my roommate's movies...  you wouldn't believe how many movies he has...  it was *several* boxes full, I've got it down to a little over 3 boxes left to sort out.  Plus we bought a wardrobe awhile back at the auction, and I need to make room for it, so we can get it in here and I can hang my clothes in it...

I had thought I was getting too old to stay up all night and keep going the next day...  lol  yeah, 23 is old...  haha...  I used to get physically sick if I didn't sleep.  I think it was the psych meds I was on.  Cuz I feel fine, just a bit wired for whatever reason, in this cleaning and sorting mood...  I'll probably crash early tonight though or sometime this afternoon.

Things have been so busy here lately...  springtime on a farm...  mostly I'm just keeping the house up and taking care of the critters...  but lately haven't been in the mood to do much, so it's weird that all of a sudden I'm workin my butt off like crazy...  lol  I've been wondering how the heck I"m going to have time for school...  I'm supposed to start school in the fall....  I don't know how busy harvest time is, but I know next spring...  it'll be tough getting school work done and keeping things going here...  but...  I'll just have to make it work out cuz I need to get my certifications.

Actually, I've contemplated doing agriculture instead of computers...  I dunno...  I love farm life, I think I want to be on a farm the rest of my life...  it's tough work, but it's great, I love it.  And I guess I wouldn't really need the agriculture degree, I'm learning a lot just living here, but...  I'd learn a lot more going to school for it...  we'll see...

Alright...  enough rambling  lol  Can you tell I'm a bit wired today?  lol  biggrin

Lisa,
I live in the country. I was born into a farming family.....married a farmer. There
is something very spiritual about it all. So many miracles of life to behold! It is a peaceful
and quiet place, something that for me, helps me thrive. It was also very gratifying to
watch as the seasons passed......as the crops were planted, sprouted and grew right through
harvest.....to know that I had been a part of the process even though it was only a wee
small part. When I lived for a time in town where I was blessed with good neighbors.
However, my heart was always on the farm. I'm no longer involved in the process, however
still reap the rewards of watching it all once again where I live. It is still awesome to
behold. As Toby/THL regards the ocean, surfing, and the sea's creatures, that is how
I feel about the country/farm.
Ally is correct by pouring yourself into all these positives you maybe finding your path
to a life that can contribute toward your path of sobriety.
So happy that after the slip, you got right back into sobriety. Congrats on what you have
so far achieved.
Continued good luck!

Wonderful on twelve days, Lisa!

Yeah, spring on a farm is so so busy. Getting rid of the winter build up in the barns, putting it all into compost, preparing for the kidding to come. How I miss that.

I dont know about Nebraska, but Washington has a program where people who have farms have an internship for four or five months and students or someone interested live there for the duration and learn. I know the farm we joined (CSA-consumer supported agriculture) did that, as do a few others in the area. Call your nearest extension office---hands on experience is really important. Often it'll supercede classroom. If I were younger, I'd go for it, but in animal husbandry. Animal genetics is really interesting. Learned alot from local classes and conferences regarding breeding my goats for production, udder attachments, protein levels, etc. Wow, I really miss it. I had breedings planned years in advance, and would go back several generations (yes, there really are papered goats, LOL) to track certain traits I wanted in my stock. Ok, that's enough, I'm too old for a farm anymore. Unless Lisa wants to move out here and begin another dairy with me? LOL, it'll only take about a million bucks to make the state happy.....You sound so good, Lisa. I am so happy hearing how much yu love the life-style. Keep it up, you're sure on the right track. Learning's so right--the spirituality attached to working with the earth and seasons. hugs, Chris

Congrats on 12 days... sometimes allnighters are good for the soul, I'm 31, and while I don't do them as often as I used to, once in awhile, watching the sun come up is invigorating!
