Yesterday... Today... and Tomorrow

There are two days in every week about which we should not worry, two days which should be kept free from fear and apprehension.

One of these days is Yesterday with its mistakes and cares, its faults and blunders, its aches and pains. Yesterday has passed forever beyond our control.

All the money in the world cannot bring back Yesterday. We cannot undo a single act we performed; we cannot erase a single word said. Yesterday is gone.

The other day we should not worry about is Tomorrow with its possible adversities, its burdens, its large promise and poor performance. Tomorrow is also beyond our immediate control.

Tomorrow's sun will rise, either in splendor or behind a mask of clouds - but it will rise. Until it does, we have no stake in Tomorrow, for it is yet unborn.

This leaves only one day - Today. Any person can fight the battles of just one day; it is only when you or I add the burdens of those two awful eternities - Yesterday - and Tomorrow - that we break down.

It is not the experience of Today that drives people mad - it is the remorse or bitterness for something which happened Yesterday and the dread of what Tomorrow may bring.

Let us, therefore, live but One Day at a Time.

Yesterday is HISTORY

Tomorrow is a MYSTERY

Today is a GIFT

That's why it's called the 'PRESENT'

I pray to keep it simple, but it is not in my mind right now.  I am really struggling.  I had 63 days and slipped, now I can't seem to get my self past it.  All I think about is drinking for the last couple of days.

Hi Tanya,

Welcome to MIP. It really is a great place to be with lots of super, friendly people. It really adds to the quality of my sobriety, along with going to face to face meetings.

I am so sorry that you are struggling after a slip. But, I think that I can say most of us have been there and can understand what you are feeling right now. I certainly have. I was a serial relapser at one point. Then, something changed for me. And, it will for you, too. Just hang in there and it really will get better.

Please keep coming back here and reading and posting as much as you want/need, won't you?

Take care,

Carol

Thank you Carol.  I am in a real Stinkin Thinking mentality right now.  Why all of a sudden ater 63 days I drink and I didn't exactly hide it; shoot I left the bottle on top of my purse.  I just wander how I go from here.???   Tanya

Hi T Rae...

I sobered up at age 32....and bounced for 5 years....with a lot of crap in between...

Soooo :) Youre not alone..

Never wanted to give up my best friend...even tho my best friend was killing me..and almost did...

I loved her....

Yet the complusion..over rode any sane thinking there was left.....which wasnt much...

We fall down..we go BOOOM!!  We pick ourselves up,...and start again...

One day...at a time...just for today...and whatever we GOTTA DO....

Youre not alone...

And its all a learning experience...Bang! Crash!! Kerplunk!! and get atter again!! (smile)
