Just to give a little update on where I am, for those of you who I've spoken with before...

Since October 29, I have stumbled twice.  A week ago today, I went out and had 3 beers at the bar.  Then on Monday of this week, I had a particularly bad day, and I ended up binging that night and missing work the next day.

So I've had a few stumbles in the last 3 weeks, but overall, I still feel that I'm doing well with attempt # 532 at sobriety :)  I'm trying not to let the stumbles distract me from the ultimate goal.

Hi Scott,

That used to happen to me, but I kept on going for one day at a time. I also grew stronger and that helped. You will get there, Scott. Please keep posting and letting us know how it goes for you, won't you?

Take care,

Carol

I think 532 may have been the final one for me too.....or was it 533?  I'm not sure, but you're not alone.  Most of us have tried, slipped a bit, and then FINALLY got our bearings straight and decided enough is enough.  We all eventually find that alcohol isn't the answer to any question, the solution to any problem, and it sure ain't an anti-depressant even though it feels like one for a bit sometimes.  Don't give up and keep comin' back!...Tim

Hey Scott, good to hear from you. Even better that you're working at it. It's a day at a time, and I'm not gonna even mention numbers of my own, LOL. It takes what it takes, and youre looking towards your goal a step at a time, thats great. Stay in touch with us, ok? Wren

Thanks for the encouragement, folks.  I'm feeling really good right now about things.  Putting Monday's binge behind me, and moving forward.  Today is November 17, and I've only had alcohol on two occassions since October 29.  That's not saying a lot, but it's something!

In case anyone is looking for helpful books, a book I'm reading right now that is helping me along this path is called The Tao of Sobriety.  It's by David Gregson and Jay Efran.  It's a really, really good book, offering meditative insights and alternate ways of viewing yourself and your addictions.  Highly recommended.
