After many months of contemplation I have decided to take on on my alcoholism. My husband and mom are the only ones in whom I've confided and they're very supportive.
Congratulations on making the decision to tackle your alcoholism. I just wish that I had done what you are doing years ago. Well done. I find this forum a wonderful asset to my sobriety. I pop along several times each day and read and post as much as I want. There are some really great people here who will all help and support you as much as they can.
For me, I couldn't keep sober without going to real-life AA meetings. You'll meet some wonderful people there and they will be very supportive of you and of each other. I have met some truly wonderful friends at the AA meetings that I go to.
I'm not sure where you live, but you'll fine AA listed in your local Yellow Pages and one simple 'phone call will get you started with meetings available in your area.
You'll find that life will very quickly start to become so much better for you. Please keep posting and let us know how it is going for you, won't you?
Take care,
Carol

Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for AA membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions. AA is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy, neither endorses nor opposes any causes. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety. At present there about 3 million of us....that are supporting each other...one day at a time...to stay sober...without picking up a drink...and learning to arrest this addiction...
There Are AA meetings all over the map.....
And also an AA phone number in the front of your phone book...
If you give them a call....they will either direct you to meetings in your area...or someone will hook up with you...and answer any questions you have about it all..

Welcome to the MIP board, Brandnu, and congratulations on making such a life changing decision. There is alot of experience strength and hope on this board, and I'm glad you found us so that can be shared. I hope you can find local meetings where you can feel the real miracles happen in your life, too. Nothing like face to face to really feel supported, and be able to share. Keep on posting, and again, welcome. Wren
