Hi Wagon....Hey...good for you...There is another side to AA and its called  service, and giving back...

It can be demanding...but the unknown rewards are great..

In my opinion..the GSRs are a big part of the service module...and a whole new learning and growing experience to come...and meeting new friends..all over the place..

Ive just been out of town on what I thought was going to be a full day..regarding AA service..but it was a short meeting..thank God..Some can get pretty lengthy...especially when alcoholics try to fix things and change things that dont need fixed and changed (smile)

You have a good weekend...

Hi Wagon,

That is great news. I am so pleased for you. The GSR at my Home Group is a really super person and has earned so much respect from me and other newcomers. I'm sure that you'll be great at the job. I can't wait until I have a little more sobriety and I can do more service.

Take care,

Carol

Hi Tipsy.

She's gonna be the groups' "General Service Representative".

Although it kinda sounds like the "Maytag repairman", it's actually NOT "the lonliest job in the world", but it does carry responsibility.

The GSR is basically the local groups representative in dealings with AA's General Service Organization.  (Help me out folks, if I am starting to run off track her.  I've never held the job myself, and I am out here in "America's Outback", where meetings are few and far between.)

If you have never checked out the AA organization at the national level, and are curious, here is a link to their site.  http://www.aa.org/?Media=PlayFlash
