SERENITY AFTER THE STORM

Someone who knew what he was talking about once remarked that
pain was the touchstone of all spiritual progress. How heartily
we A.A.'s can agree with him. . . .
TWELVE STEPS AND TWELVE TRADITIONS, p p. 93-94

When on the roller coaster of emotional turmoil, I remember that
growth is often painful. My evolution in the A.A. program has
taught me that I must experience the inner change, however painful,
that eventually guides me from selfishness to selflessness. If I
am to have serenity, I must STEP my way past emotional turmoil and
its subsequent hangover, and be grateful for continuing spiritual
progress.

Five simple rules of  happiness:
1. Free your heart from hatred.
2. Free your mind from worries.
3. Live simply.
4. Give more.
5. Expect less.

THANK YOU DOLL!!!  Boy did I need to hear this today.  My relationship of the last five years plus is breaking.  I am indeed in an emotional upheaval trying to find some resolution emotionally and physically (like a place to live).  I am extremely happy that I'm sober during this time that I must make these critical decisions.  Everything is as it should be.  Growth does not come without pain.  This too shall pass...Tim

Gosh Tim,

I sure hope the best for you. Maybe at some point you can see this as an 'adveture'? I know it must be rough right now, though. You are right, it is a blessing that we can be sober while going through these changes and making these decisions. All the best to you.
