Welcome, kittn!!

You will find a great deal of support here, so keep coming back!!  This does not take the place of AA itself, but it is so very helpful to my sobriety. Looking forward to getting to know you.

Hi Kittn,

Welcome to this wonderful forum. There is a lot of super support and comments here and it really helps with my sobriety.

I'm so pleased that you went to your first AA meeting last night. After almost a year of AA meetings I am still inspired by them so much. I know that without going to regular meetings I couldn't keep my sobriety.

I, too, was so scared when I went to my first meeting, but I quickly discovered that AA is full of wonderful, caring and giving people.

Looking forward to getting to know you.

Take care,

Carol

one very hard thing that happened when i got home was my neighbour borrows my locker in my condo.  he always buys me a 26er of bacardi.  i accepted.  then i hid it away.  it took everything i got not to have a drink.  especially coming home from work and having puppy poop all over inside his pen and all over his bedding.  phewwwwwwwww.  but, i stuck to my crystal lite.  i will not touch it.  promise........

Hi Kittn,

I'm not so sure that I would feel too comfortable with having alcohol in the house if I was on my own. My boyfriend is staying with me at the moment and I have some in for him and that's not a problem for me. But, I couldn't risk my sobriety by keeping some in if he wasn't here. I would just have to throw it away. But, that's just me!

Take care,

Carol

Great idea, Kittn!!!

I love the saying,

"Anyone can learn from his own mistakes. A wise man learns from the mistakes of others."

That's why we're all here. To share our experience.

Glad you are here to share yours too.

Hi Kittn,

Well done on such a super idea! When I first stopped drinking I gave away all of my bottles of wine to a woman that I know well. It felt really good to have an alcohol free house.

Take care,

Carol

good mornin' all...

another day, morn... which is my night, when im on graveyard shift.  i allways, before now (being alcohol free) would stop almost every other night at the B&W store for a mickey of rum.  (so, i would have some drinkies when i got home.)  this morn... it is crystal lite in a wine glass for me.  im on an anti-depressant.  so, to help myself stay away from alcohol... (i tell myself that i will get deathly sick if i have any alcohol.)  i hate getting sick.. (makes me cry.. ever since i was a little girl)... i was sick recently from salmonella.  i thought i was going to die.  it was awful.  so, i remember that experience all to well.  (playing a little mind trickery works sometimes.)  one day at a time.  24 hours at a time.  might not be forever.  but, i take it one day at a time.  i can't see into the future.  but, i know what i want.  im going to try hard this time..

Yes, Kittn...

All that is required for this is to NOT DRINK for just 24 hours... that's ALL!!! Just one day...

You can do it... AA can help!!

Hi Kittn,

You are so right – it's all about twenty-four hours at a time. If I think about my sobriety in those terms it's so much easier for me then.

Have a great and sober next twenty-four hours, won't you?

Carol
