Hey Tim, I used to go, but when I got a new computer, I couldn't get the window to down load. I just get a box with a little x on the left hand side. Not sure how to remedy that. Any suggestions? Chris

Gee Phil, thanks a rot. LOL, I can get into the meeting area where the talk is, just the screen I need to put my name to won't come up for me. Think it's a java thing. No, not coffee.

Well howdy again Wren and Phil. I'm not having any luck getting in there. All I'm getting is the old "The page can't be dismayed" or displayed or sumpin. If either of you get there, please let me know the secret...Tim

The chat feature is a java applet wich I think interfaces with an irc client on the server, or actually loads a client within the applet. You could tell which by opening a command prompt in windows and typing the command 'netstat', see if you are connected to any servers associated with chat4all. Either which a way, you need java enabled to load the applet. IE security settings can interfere, as well as some firewalls like zonealarm. (if you cant figure it out, dont screw with zonealarm, it's doing it's job in most cases.) In IE, you can check to see if it's installed, go to tools / internet options / advanced also, see if it's enabled, look for the plug in or add on menu. Memory is spotty on windows. Or look in add/remove programs on the control panel, see if something like java run time or virtual machine is installed. If not, run windows updater and find it in there, or go to sun's java website and install it as a stand alone program. (it'll gunk up your system with more background crap.) Or you can just find a irc client for windoze and log onto the server without all this junk.
Just for the fun of it, trying to avoid another rant here, but I just gotta show off a little, all I have to do is type "epic irc.chat4all.org' in bash, and I log right on, switch to an alias, and join whatever channel I wish. (linux ROCKS)
Thank you Ryan!!! I can get in now, no prob.following your directions. A little too late for a meeting, but I'm loaded up for now. Ummm, I'll change that to my computer is now java literate.....hugs, Chris
