in volume 3 of the big book page 449 has that wonderful paragraph on acceptance. what page is it on in volume 4?


material success follows spiritual progress, it never precedes it. where is this quote found? i think it is in the steps.

That acceptance part is in the Story "Doctor..Alcoholic..Addict"


I dont have a Fourth Edition...but to the best of my knowledge..that story was not included...


The other question....?


If I get a chance today..I'll look....or maybe some one else here, can help you with that one..

Hi Ed,

Welcome to this wonderful forum. It's good to have you here.

I have volume four of the Big Book and I think that the paragraph that you are after is found on page 417. It's in the personal story called 'Acceptance Was The Answer'. If it is the paragraph that starts “And acceptance is the answer to all of my problems today.” then that's where it is. (Apologies if I have got it wrong!).

“For us, material well-being always followed spiritual progress; it never preceded.” is from Big Book (volume four). It's on page 127 and it's from the chapter 'The Family Afterward'. The paragraph starts 'The head of the house ...'

I used to hate that reading as a newcomer! I had about as much acceptence as a man in denial, funny that???
