Healing

We should learn not to grow impatient with the slow healing process of time. We should discipline ourselves to recognize that there are many steps to be taken along the highway leading from sorrow to renewed serenity... We should anticipate these stages in our emotional convalescence: unbearable pain, poignant grief, empty days, resistance to consolation, disinterestedness in life, gradually giving way . . . to the new weaving of a pattern of action and the acceptance of the irresistible challenge of life.
--Joshua Loth Liebman

Recovery is a process. It is a gradual process, a healing process, and a spiritual process - a journey rather than a destination.

We can relax, do our part, and let the rest happen.

Today, I will trust this process and this journey that I have undertaken.

This gives me hope and to remember that this is a journey.  At meetings I keep hearing that it is the quality of sobriety and not the length of time.  For the past few months I feel as if the quality is so poor.  I am more often feeling unwell physically which leads to mood swings and a dark cloud over me.  Some parts of today have felt extremely rough.

And then there are times during the days that it all feels worth it and that this life I live now is so far beyond better than any time I was drinking and using before that I wonder why I doubt myself.  I come on here to read things that sometimes inspires me, helps me to take one more step and to believe in myself.  This reading helped me to know that I am right where I am meant to be today.  Thanks for that Phil.

Sincerely,  Jo-Anne
