I am quit a culinary conneisure, and I thought I would share my latest creation.
1 can trappys blackeye peas w/jalapeno
1 good squirt sriracha sauce
1 good squirt lime juice
1 good pinch parsely
1 good pinch garlic powder

Dont ever do that.

It sounded like a good idea, but it sucks. badly. still eating it. a grimace in every bite.
All these ingredients seperate have many great uses. Put them together and terrible things happen.
Reminds me of the time I smoked a grennel. Tasted like sour tuna with the consistency of mud.
Took an hour to choke it down.

Don't feel bad. Back in '67 (19 not 18) I patiently scraped the inside of several banana peels, laid it all out on a cookie sheet, baked until dry, rolled it up, smoked it and spent the next hour trying not to puke. All three of us. All based on the song Mellow Yellow. I was not a very bright seventeen yr. old.

I have also learned the pickled herring and peanut butter is a horrible horrible combination....love wren

Hi Ryan,

This reminded me of a Black Bean & Corn Salza, that someone at a Farmers market, gave me after I had purchased some:

Black Bean Salza

*   *   *   *   *

2 cup Black Beans

2 cup White Corn, shaved off cobb, uncooked, (needs to be when the crops are new )

The Juice of 5 limes

1 cup chopped Tomatoes

1 cup chopped fine, Cenantro

Mix ingredients in a large Bowl, and let it sit in Refrigerator for at least 1 day.

...and if you want it pretty hot, add some Habinero Liquid, OR substitute the tomatoes with 1 cup hot Salza.....  This is one of my favorites.

Your recipe did sound good, but then you said, it did not turn out well, we still have to keep experimenting, right???

Toodles, Toni

Hey Ryan?  I cook too...

I usually wind up covering it all with tobbasco sauce...

By the time youre through trying to cool your mouth off?...it really doesnt matter what it tasted like...

You just convince yourself it was really good eh...:)

And the pain only lasts for a few days...

Hey Toni, I'm going to have to try that one.  And as we're on recipes I'll have to say that the recipe for salsa that jonibaloni PM'ed me 2 weeks ago is FANTASTIC!  If you don't have it already and would like it, let me know and I'll either PM it to you or post it on this thread salsa lovers.

If you're out there joni, I hope you don't mind me sharing something that great with others.

My last go with salsa involved....kiwis.... wasnt that bad. Happen to be an amateur critic. In Houston, I chose taquerias by the salsa. Something out of a can or picante sauce had me walking out the door. Every mom and pop place knew to give me my salsa and let me read the paper. Naomi's on 45 was for barbacoa, a hundred spots for fajita tacos (flour. gotta have onion, jalapeno, cilantro grilled with the fajita, with plenty of lime.).. little place on NASA 1 across from my apartments had the best salsa. It was hand made, hot, almost soup, and you had to spit out tough chunks of stems and crap- but you could not stop eating it. Chips hand made to. grease still sizzling out when she brought them.
Then there where the chinese buffets with sushi.. and wasabe.. (You haf ten plate. You been hea four owa. We close. Go Home!) Thai for bowls full of anatomical features of ocean going wildlife... Vietnamese pho full of sriracha, raw jalapeno and plants, with tripe and other cow parts.. snot and tears flowing freely as you slurp it down. Gotta holler PHOOOO! like your throwing up, just for kicks. Those vietnamese chicks dig it. The other customers dont, the hell withem. Greek pesto, Mongolian barbeque, you fill a bowl with frozen lamb beef or chicken, put some noodles and sauces on it (and yes. sriracha with garlic) and hand it to the snarling mongolian. He's snarling because your buying one bowl and I would pile it twice over and literally use both hands to pack it in. He dumps it on a huge hot plate and stirs it around right before you, and then swipes it all back into your bowl, cooked. Had to beat mine first cause I crammed it into a giant frozen chunk.
And here I am in Arkansas, starving to death. A buffet here consists of green beans and mashed potatoes and other industrial size cans full of heart attack. fooooooood. I could just hitchhike back for one real bowl of pho and some real salsa.. but then I'd have that old life calling me... like a siren. I can still here it dimly all the way from here.. 24 hours a day.

Oh, all this talk about ethnic food! Now I'm obsessing on Adobo, real chili rejjano all greasy and crispy from the egg frying in deep fat. Refried beans with so much pork fat in it you stuttered like Porky Pig for a week after.

And here I sit eating healthy chicken salad with organic leeks and fresh cherry tomatoes from Wicked Wanda's garden (and oh they are sooooo sweet). I'm going to have ta go in and eat a cube of butter now.

OK... FREAKS!!!!!!!! LOLOL

Tim, would you PLEASE cut and paste, and post the salsa recipe?? I would appreciate it if you'd help me out with that. :o)

Also, I am having a 'woman's crabby week', no further explanation needed?? And have been eating the most gawdawful combinations... I must say, thank you, whomever it was that mention pickled herrings... I am DYING for smoked herrings in oil!!!!! And I am NOT going to the all-night overpriced supermarket for them so I will simply SUFFER... LOL

I did eat a bowl of kiddie cereal... but it was OK, because on top of all that sweet sugary crunch, I put about a quarter cup of wheat germ on top!!! Hahahaa  like how I can 'make it seem healthy"??  I have also had a Cadbury almond chocolate bar, and am getting ready to bust out the hummus... this is my first day in a week without FRIED FOOD!!!!  LOL

4 Lg. tomatoes VERY RIPE, finely diced.

Mix it all together and have some good chips on hand!! Enjoy,

O.k. Joni, you asked Tim to post this, but I am filling in as his personal secretary, this evening,

so he asked me to take care of this......................................................

Red Pepper Hummas and Cereral, Like Captain Chrunch?????  Are you trying to see how far you can push it, before hugging that large ring in the Bathroom, Hahahaha!

I'm with Wren on this one, just top of any good healthy meal with a cube of butter, that works for me.  Must be that wiring thingy again, scrambling up.

This Post is really one of the Best I've seen in a while, our true nature coming out front and center, eh.

Joni,  Tim had private Messaged me the Recipe, and I was being Cryptic, it did not work, haha!

and Phil, 25 toppings, yep, are you an alke???? hahaha

and Ryan you started this Post, and Thanks for that,  why don't we take all the ingridients for all the salsas and the 25 toppings on Phil's pizza, oh, and let's not forget the pound of butter ad the humus, and Captain Crunch cereral, that would need to go into this recipe, and then you could all come out her and Tim and I can rent a banquet room somewhere between Bakersfield and San Diego, and we could have a real Alke Banquet.

What a slimming thought.

Toodles to all, my thinking is feeling just like the above recipe, so I need to go get Quiet with my Higher Power this morning....................ya Think????????

Just catching up on all the postings before going to the grocery store...  I am so hungry!  Toni your recipe looks great!  I make a very similar salsa but also add almost a whole can of corn to it.  Yummy!!

It has been 3 weeks since my last venture to the grocery store and I have pretty much only condiments to work with.  For breakfast I had stale chocolate chip cookies dipped in a can of hot fudge.  Not as tasty as it sounds.

Did you say.... BUFFET????

My favorite word!!!

I actually have brownies just out of the oven still cooling... melted a quarter of a jar of peanut butter on top before baking, and then covered that with fudge frosting... MMM-MMMM!!!!

I broke down and got me some Alaskan King Crab legs today at the grocery... had a few for lunch... with half stick of melted butter, Wren....

PMS gives me a great excuse to do the most UNHEALTHY things!!! Yaaayy!!
