Well, yesterday I went to my first AA convention. All I can say is that it was really fantastic and I hadn't expected to get so much out of the day. If you've never been to one, then please go - they are terrific!!!
It was a long day, as my home group was in charge of the tea and coffee side of life. I was there before eight o'clock in the morning and got cracking. By eight thirty everything was ready and people started arriving.
I saw some people that I haven't seen for a while and met lots of new people. I saw somebody that I knew who didn't know that I was in AA. It was wonderful to see him and we had a lovely long chat with each other and his wife, who goes to Al-Anon.
I heard so many different shares and just got so much out of everything that was said. At the end of the day, we had a Spiritual Meeting and that was the most beautiful experience that I have ever had. I felt truly privileged to be there and to be involved in AA. I could sense an awareness of a HP that I have never felt before.
I could go on and on about just how wonderful it was and how much I got out of the whole experience. I can't say enough just how good it was to be there and to have a true sense of belonging. I can't wait for the next convention!
Take care,
Carol

I really enjoy the welcoming nature of all the AA groups I have been to so far. I can only imagine the welcoming and accepting feeling that must come over a person at a convention.
Glad you enjoyed it! I'll have to do research on conventions in my area now!!!
