When we lose a dear friend, someone we have loved deeply, we are left with a grief that can paralyse us emotionally. People we love become part of us. Our thinking, feeling and acting are codetermined by them: Our fathers, our mothers, our husbands, our wives, our friends … they are all living in our hearts. When they die a part of us has to die too. That is what grief is about: It is that slow and painful departure of someone who has become an intimate part of us. But as we let go of them they become part of our “members” and as we “re-member” them, they become our guides on our spiritual journey.

So very sorry that today was the day that you lost this very dear friend.


The following is a very powerful and beautiful piece of Prose,  that you sent me, some time ago, and I wanted to share it with you today.


Grief is a tidal
wave that over takes you,
smashes down upon you with unimaginable force,
sweeps you up into its darkness,
where you tumble and crash against unidentifiable surfaces,
only to be thrown out on an unknown beach, bruised, reshaped


Sending this to you today, with all my love, and Prayers for Bill and for you.

I recall that, quite sometime ago, you mentioned a friend who was battling with cancer.  I am sorry for your loss, my friend.  May you find comfort that there is Peace now for your friend Bill, as he has gone to The Light.

Thanks guys...was a pretty heavy day yesterday...but its ok...thats life...and its not about me...We just feel how we feel...acceptance...and move on...


Bill wanted no services...of any kind...He was sober for almost 4 years...and gave, right from the heart...


And that to me...is what its all about...

Take care Bud, I lost a couple of life long friends to cancer right before I got sober. It's a cruel disease that can take a strapping 200 lb man to a 120 invalid in less then a year. Bob.

Hi Bob....and yaaa...Watched this guy...almost every day..go from 195...to 98....Sad shit man...


Went through a bunch of it myself about 3 years ago....back on top today...one of the lucky ones...
