My husband accepted the job offer in North Carolina, so we are officially moving to another state! Whoa nellie! Big changes ahead for this alkie--and you all know how much we alks loooove change.
Obviously, one of the first things I will do down there is get to a meeting and introduce myself. I'm sure all those southerners will be jealous that I hail from the birthplace of AA, Akron, Ohio. But I was thinking it would be so cool if there was a meeting at the beach (I'm going to be living just a few miles from the coast.) What better place to connect with God than at an AA meeting, next to the huge, powerful ocean? I hope they have beach meetings!
Anyway, we will be moving in just a month or so. Anyone here live in NC? Anyone survive a big move? I'm so psyched and scared silly at the same time!
Hi there, well what an exciting adventure you are going on!! In my experience as a Navy wife, the hardest part of moving was making new friends, and do you have a leg up on that with AA!! How cool! The second hardest part, is finding out the where to go"s, like where to go to the dr, dentist, where do you find inexpensive kid clothes, etc, but, you will have AA friends to help with that, too.
I am a real "water" lady, too. If they don't have a meeting on the beach, you can start one!! That is the marvelous thing about AA, you want it, go get it. We can always use another meeting! All you need is a big book and a coffee pot.
Being scared is ok, and pretty soon you will be too busy packing to be scared. You will miss your old friends while you make new friends, and that is ok, too. Maybe scared is too strong a word, maybe apprehensive is better. But, you will do fine, all things are possible to us as long as we don't drink. Keep us informed, isn't it nice to know you have so many people on your Team?
We're all with you.............................peaceful thoughts to you. Wanda
