Went to my first meeting tonight. The group was nice and very welcoming. It was a good experience and I'll be going back. They even bought me a Big Book which I thought was pretty nice of them since it was my first time.
Way to go HappyMe!!! I was so shy when I started going to my meetings. I still have trouble speaking out, I get tounge tied and have a problem voicing my feelings. But I always walk away with something. It's like the meeting was just for me and I was there because there was something I NEEDED to hear.
Read that AA book. Especially the first 164 pages. I just finished the book and I'm starting over again. The stories are really good.
Good Luck! You won't be sorry. I only have 60 days sober but if it hadn't been for the meetings and this board, I would've probably already relapsed.

I am so proud of you, Many do not make that first huge step. And yes the big book, its all in there. again you are on the right track. keep coming back wagon
That is great news. Well done. I'm so glad that you will be going back. Going to face-to-face meetings is what helps enormously to keep me sober. I couldn't do it without my meetings.
Keep reading the Big Book. I make sure that I read a part of it each day. It really does help me.
Take care,
Carol

I swear to you, it's hearing things like what you just posted that keep me going on in this program! This program is so wonderful and I am happy to hear that you have begun your sober journey.
One line in the Big Book just came to me 'more will be revealed later'
Congratulations HappyMe!! Now, if you keep going back and are sociable enough, you'll find plenty of sober friends to help you along when you're not at meetings. The best part: You'll help them stay sober also! Have fun and good fortune!...Tim
