What are your priorities today?

"Most people are so busy knocking themselves out trying to do everything they think they should do, they never get around to do what they want to do."

-- Kathleen Winsor

When we clearly set an intention, our conscious and subconscious minds mobilize to help us meet that intention. At the start of each day, thoroughly review what commitments you have made to others for the day, and decide what commitment(s) you will make for yourself.

What can you do today that will move you one step closer to your personal goals? Own your power to choose to meet your own needs. After all, we are much better able to help others when our own needs are met. And at the end of the day, when you've honoured your commitment to yourself, acknowledge your success.

"If you want to make good use of your time, you've got to know what's most important and then give it all you've got."

-- Lee Iacocca

Thanks for the post Wren.

This is something I've been having a lot of trouble with lately. Gets kind of overwhelming at times. This seems to me to be good 11th step material! I'm not quite there yet but it doesn't mean I can't practice these principles!

Take care and have a great weekend!

Thanks, Wren.

I have often struggled in keeping a healthy array of commitments to BOTH myself and others. I used to 'lose myself' in helping others, and at other times, I was purely selfish and 'didn't want to be bothered or stressed'. I think the latter came from 'helping' in the wrong ways and then getting burned. Every find yourself early in recovery, inadvertantly trying to be 'someone's HP?" Enough said!!

As an active alcoholic, I was very extreme about everything. This has carried over into recovery. The 'all or nothing' plight. My sponsor taugth me that as I was learning new thinking and behaviors, I was kind of like a 'pendulum'. Where I used to swing all the way to solitude and selfishness, I had to swing all the way to the other side and 'lose myself' trying to help others, before the swinging slowed down to more of a happy medium.

I can easliy overdo it where others are concerned, as well as getting wrapped up in my own little universe. When I started to experience the joy of 'me-time', I couldn't get enough of that, either.

But life continues to throw out learning experiences, by the Grace of God. And being more calm and intune with my HP helps me to have a lighter overall attitude. I hope I never stop taking care of me. And I hope I always have enough to give some away.

Thanks for the good read, Wren.
