Have been hanging out (lurking) on this site for a couple of days and see that in addition to the booze, cigarettes are also a problem with many here. I am 66 years old and guit smoking about 3 1/2 months ago after 50 years of smoking. My sucess with that addiction is what brought me to this site, figured if I could quit smoking I would start working on my 45 year love affair with the beer bottle/can. There are support sites on the internet to quit smoking, some are tough love and one smoke and your are dirt and others that support you and help you when you slip and allways ready to lend a helping hand. The one I have been using is Quitnet, a very supportive site. Come on over and take a look at it, Find me there as HillbillyID. They have a forum for people who are quiting smoking and also have problems with drinking or drugs.
I used Zyban to quit smoking and now have to wean myself off it before I quit drinking as it can cause problems trying to go from heavy drinker (two six packs a day) to none while taking it. Will be talking to Dr next week about the best way to go about it.
I try to come on this site several times a day and by reading the posts, I can see there is a lot of support and caring people here who want to provide a helping hand to those who need it.
I think you all for the warm welcome recieved here and hope to get to know you all better as time goes by.
Im sure that it will be helpful to those with the nicatine addiction..and trying to stop...:)
Im addicted to smoking..but have had no desire to give it up as yet..
So..the site you have brought to our attention...and other sites regarding smoking...will help in keeping our singleness of purpose on this site..which is Alcoholism..and recovery from the disease...
You have a great weekend Hillbilly..!!
