Howdy Flapper...Dont know if its the same routine, as here in Canada..but its likely pretty close...

Go talk to the Warden...If he OKs it...He will set down the rules...and the guidelines to follow...usually his guidelines..

Then..you can contact  your Area Committee Corrections Chairperson...and he or she..will work with you...on the rest of it..

Hope that helps..and good luck with it...Its a rewarding experience..

Only thing I can suggest is either calling the head office in NY or going to a district meeting. One of those would be sure to work. And if there isn't one........start one like Phil said!

Good luck!

I have participated in juvenile Prison AA meetings for young women (ages 14-16). I believe speaking to the clinical advisor/head physician of the prison/jail would be a great place to start. Some communities even provide extra funding for a correctional facility that holds such meetings. But I am fortunate to live in an area of the country where 'treatment over incarceration' is widely implemented, and prison sentences for addicts as a later resort.

I do know that clinicians (Dr.s, RN's, clinical directors) of such places are extremely receptive to such programs.

Just my experience with corrections-based meetings, in the state of Ohio...

Good luck to you!! They really need us!!

Hi There,

Well in Louisiana, there would me a Local Chapter in your area of General Services, part of that heads up H & I. Hospitals and Institutions. H & I Servide work is very strong in California, would imagine that it is established there too.

Do you have access to contacting the Local Chapter of AA, in your town??, Local Chapters are staffed mostly with voluteers, and are very receptive to all questions, like yours.  In California, it is the H & I groups that contact the Prison Systems, and try to get these meetings started, if they are not already in place.

Many years ago, I sat in on H & I Volunteer workshops for a few months. So this information is from what I recall.

Let us know how you made out, o.k.??

Are you contacting us from inside a Prison System, or are you trying from the outside to get this done???  That info would help us to help you.
