My name is Brian and, yes, I am an alcoholic. I have been in recovery for 16 years, but I have not been in an AA program for the past 11 years. I hope to get to know you all better as we continue this journey into sobriety. Thanks!

I'm Carol and I'm an alcoholic. I do go to regular meetings and at the moment I have eight months sobriety behind me. I found this wonderful board about one month ago and there are so very many wonderful folk here. I look forward to getting to know you better.
Take care,
Carol

Thanks, everyone. I need to correct something that I said. I said that I have been in recovery for 16 years? Well, as of 7/16/06, it is now 17 years.

Hey there! bet Bill Wilson would have never thought it possible for me to talk to an a.a many miles away on a friday night in my dressing gown on a computer!
Hey!! a million miles from the dispair I was in huh????1 year and 11 months ago tomorrow, tonight would have been that last time at the bar...(my couch and just a tv as company)
the dread that I felt when I thought I cant live with it, I cant live without it.
I hail from the Akron, OH area where AA all began... doesn't give me an unfair advantage, unfortunately... still have to work just as hard as the next gal...LOL
Heading to Oklahoma for vacation with my husband in Sept... will holler out a HUGE TEXAS hello from the OK/TX border!!
Glad to have you, and I am sure you have a lot of experience, strength and hope to share with us all!!
Hey Joni, say a big "HI" to Texacoma and the Tishmingo area for me! G"pa was born on Chickesaw (sp) Territory, and he took me back, many years ago, to meet a large group of my kin folk. I totally loved the area and the people there. Been west coast all my life, and didn't know that cultural changes also meant friendly changes, LOL. I still miss it back there, but the thought of living in tornadoes terrifies me.....So give 'em all a Hail from me! love Wren
