First time here reading the postings. I can relate to I'm done. I also have 2 small children and I drink alot. I have been wanting for years to stop drinking but because "I'm bored or stressed or need to relax or because that's what we do when we rent movies or its Sunday and I'm cooking or... or.... or...." My list goes on forever. I drink wine. Every morning I say today I'm going to stop. And every evening I feel like I need to get a bottle. Not because I'm craving physically for the taste but because of the habit I'm in. I want to stop. I need to stop. Today is July 1 and today is my new beginning. I plan on coming back here alot - if not to post, then to read and help motivate me. It's my life and I will no longer be a bystander. I will take charge and do the right thing.

Thanks for listening.

Hi Dublin,

Welcome to the forum. It really is a great place to be. I recently joined and was overwhelmed at the amount of good folk who wish to be supportive and helpful.

I could relate to so much that you said. I wanted to stop drinking for years, too. But, I always had excuse after excuse to carry on drinking. I, too, used to promise myself every morning that I wouldn't drink any more or that I wouldn't drink as much. But, for me, it just never worked.

Now, I have been back in AA for eight great months. I go to two or three meetings each week, read AA literature and pop into this forum.

I have just spent the evening with my sponsor and very good friend. It was great. I often look back on how my life was and how it is now. I can't believe the turn around - but it's happening.

It was great to read that you plan on coming back here a lot. It really does help to read and to post, too.

With all best wishes,

Carol
