I live in the Akron, OH area and had the great pleasure of attending Founder's Day this past weekend. What a humbling experience, to be with fellow recovering alcoholics from around the world. I met people from Australia, Ireland and England. James from England ended up sharing his story at one of my regular meetings, The North Hill Group, just prior to taking a plane back this week. What an honor and a priveledge!!
The motorcycle motorcade out to the cemetary is a wonderful sight to see. Hundreds of bikers from all over the country and Canada meeting for an early morning Sunday service at Dr. Bob's grave site, holding hands while singing Amazing Grace and bawling their eyes out.
I am so blessed to have this event every year right here near my home town. I would highly recommend a trip here for Founder's Day. Many of us open our homes for out-of-town guests at this time. Have a wonderful day, and see you in the Rooms!!
Just wanted to say hi, and Thanks for this post, sounds like such a lucky place to live, and be at the Heart of this Program.
Also wanted to note the similarities in our names, makes me chuckle, toni Baloney and jonibaloni, what a kick, the people here will no doubt start confusing us, we are all alkys, you know, haha.
It doesn't take much to confuse me, that I DO know.
Hi Joni, and nice to see you here. I didn't have my glasses on when I got to this post and my first thought was "why did toni change the caps in her name?" LOL.
Wish I could have experienced all that comradarie there in Ohio. What a blessed event to be part of. Thanks for sharing that experience with us! Wren
