How to handle last-minute flight changes with kids?

Weve all been there, flight canceled, kids melting down, no hotel rooms left. Whats your go-to strategy when travel plans implode? Do you call the airline, rebook online, or just wing it? Looking for real-life tips from parents whove survived airport chaos.

My trick is to rebook via the app first, then call if needed. Apps are faster, but sometimes you need a human. Last winter, a snowstorm scrapped our Toronto flight. We grabbed airport cots and turned it into a camping adventure. Kids loved it, honestly.

When in doubt, I grab the Air Canada phone number from their site and dial. Once, the rep found us seats on a partner airline after our original flight vanished. Took 40 minutes, but it worked. Having that number handy beats refreshing a broken website. Sometimes the old-school call still wins, especially with tired kids in tow.
